A venue should only need drawing once.
In practice it rarely works out that way. A tender asks for designs from two manufacturers. A tour arrives at a room someone drew in different software, the day before load-in. You inherit a CODA file in a d&b house, or the other way round. Each time, the room gets drawn again from scratch.
ConverTool reads the venue geometry from one program and writes it out for another, with layer names where the target program supports them. The hours go into the design instead of the redraw.
ConverTool is built and run by a small team of working systems engineers. If a file doesn't convert properly, email us and we'll fix the converter. You'll hear back from one of the engineers, not a support queue.

Note: EASE Focus export isn't available. The format requires surfaces to be at least 2m in length and no steeper than 45° from horizontal - constraints that most imported geometry can't meet.

We don't run analytics. We don't serve advertisements. The only cookies are for login sessions - nothing else.
Files are deleted automatically
Your source files are removed from our servers after processing. We don't keep copies, and we don't access your converted files unless you explicitly ask us to troubleshoot a failed conversion.
Recent fixes
Most of these started with someone emailing us a file that didn't come out right.
- Downloads: Converted files sometimes opened in a preview page instead of downloading. They now download in one click, and a copy is emailed to you.
- Uploads: Files downloaded from ConverTool and uploaded again were picking up longer and longer names. Fixed.
- ArrayCalc: Very large groups were being cut short on export. They're now split into extra layers instead of losing surfaces.
- System Optimiser: Layer colours now carry across from Venue Synthesis instead of everything arriving grey.
- EASE Focus 3: Audience areas on raked balconies sometimes imported facing the wrong way. Surface orientation is now corrected on import.
- DXF: A handful of exports came out in millimetres rather than metres. All DXF exports now use metres.
- Venue Synthesis: Files saved in Venue Synthesis 1.4 with nested groups failed to import. Fixed.
- Soundvision: .txt files exported on machines set to European number formats (commas as decimal points) now import correctly.
Earlier fixes (2024 to 2025)
- System Optimiser: Curved surfaces keep their original segment count instead of being simplified on the way out.
- All formats: Venues drawn as mirrored left and right halves no longer end up with duplicate surfaces down the centre line.
- ArrayCalc: Layer names with accents or special characters (Tribüne, Galería) no longer stop the file importing.
- Venue Synthesis: Tiny surfaces that Venue Synthesis would reject are now merged with their neighbours rather than dropped.
- EASE Focus 2: Added support for older .fc2 files saved before version 2.1.
- DXF: New DXF export, for checking a venue in CAD or handing it to someone who doesn't use prediction software.
- Soundvision: Import of .xmls and .xmlp project files removed on request. Soundvision .txt is still supported both ways.
- System Optimiser: Flat surfaces with no height, like stage decks drawn as a single plane, were being dropped on import. They now come through.
Common questions
Get in touch at info@convertool.co.uk with your Conversion ID (shown in your account) and we'll look into it. Edge cases do occur - complex geometry, unusual surface configurations, or quirks in how the source file was created can sometimes cause issues. We fix them as they're reported.
As of March 2024, we were asked to remove the ability to import Soundvision .xmls files. The site continues to operate normally with all other formats. If you had credits in your account at that time, you should have been contacted directly.
EASE Focus has geometry restrictions that most venue files can't satisfy - surfaces must be at least 2m long and no steeper than 45° from horizontal. These constraints make export to EASE Focus impractical for the majority of real-world venues.

Not currently, but it's something we're considering for rental companies and integrators who'd benefit from automated batch processing. Get in touch if this would be useful for your workflow.
Log in, open My Account (top of the page, or "Account settings" on your dashboard) and use Delete account at the bottom. It removes your account, uploaded files and conversion history straight away.
